LA TOUR DU BON

Tour Du Bon is made up of 1600 hectares (12 ha planted) located in a mountainous circus facing the sea, where the sunshine, the nature of the soil and the mistral allow Mourvèdre, an emblematic grape variety of La Tour du Bon Bandol wines, to express itself fully.

THE BEGINNING OF DOMAINE DE LA TOUR DU BON

Domaine de la Tour du Bon is located in the Brûlat du Castellet, at the extreme northwest of the Bandol Appellation. Originally, a watch tower would have been erected on the highest point of the site, for the protection of the village, thus christening the places “Tour de Bon”, suggesting a protective and auspicious character! It all began in 1925 when the Mauric family acquired 15 hectares in this place, to plant vines intended to produce table wine. La Tour du Bon was then purchased in 1968 by the Hocquard Family and is now managed by Agnès Henry Hocquard. The vineyards of the Tour du Bon already present were ripped off and replaced by Carignan and Mourvèdre in 1970.

A COMMITTED WORK IN LA TOUR DU BON’S VINEYARDS AND CELLAR

No chemical treatments on the limestone and sandy plots of the Domaine de la Tour du Bon, the vineyards are located at an altitude of 150 m which ensures that the vines are cleaned by sea sprays. Agnès Henry was surrounded by Thierry Puzelat and Antoine Pouponeau for the winemaking, which allowed the wines of La Tour du Bon to progress rapidly, particularly in terms of drinkability and control of farms, thanks to new lightnings. From 2013, La Tour du Bon tried to breed in amphores with a conclusive test on the Mourvèdres of the property, which allowed the creation of the cuvée En Sol.

GREAT BANDOL WINES FROM LA TOUR DU BON

The wines of the Domaine de La Tour du bon perfectly translate the terroir at Bandol altitude, Agnès Henry produces expressive and balanced wines always in the correctness and delicacy. From 1987, La Tour du Bon made a sensation with its new cuvée Saint Ferréol, a very fine wine from three confidential plots. The Bandol White is fresh and fragrant, it offers anise notes and quince while the Domaine la Tour du Bon rosé is ample and generous. The classic red is fleshy and authentic, chocolate on the finish. Saint Ferréol and Revolution are more dense and structured. Finally En Sol, a 100 % Mourvèdre vinified in amphorae is a deep and intense Bandol, oriented towards elegance.
