The domain

Domaines Ott* is steeped in history! These wine estates, which date back to antiquity, were once ravaged by phylloxera. Marcel Ott's ambition was to create Ott rosé wine from Provençal grape varieties, revealing a terroir unlike any other.

DOMAINES OTT*: A FAMILY HISTORY

In 1896, Marcel Ott replanted all his Domaines Ott* vineyards in Provence with noble grape varieties to produce authentic Provence wines, worthy of a thousand-year-old tradition. In 2004, Domaines Ott* joined the Louis Roederer Champagne House. The two cousins Christian and Jean-François Ott have been managing all of the Domaines Ott* since 2009. Generation after generation, the Ott family has developed noble rosé, red and white wines at its three estates: Château de Selle, Château Romassan and Clos Mireille.

THREE WINE ESTATES CLOSE TO NATURE

Each Domaines Ott* vineyard is cultivated with the utmost respect for nature. No chemical products or treatments are used on the plots in order to produce Ott wine as naturally as possible. Sulphur-based treatments and Bordeaux mixture are therefore favoured to treat vine diseases. Each vineyard at Domaines Ott* has been restored to a state of terraces and terraces to provide natural drainage, designed to preserve the soil and its unique terroir. 

Rosé, emblematic of Domaines Ott*, is grown on every estate. Château de Selle, created in 1912, is located in the upper Var region in Taradeau and produces rosé, white and red wines under the Côtes de Provence appellation, while Clos Mireille, created in 1930, is located facing the sea in La Londe and produces rosé and the historic Blancs de Blancs under the Côtes de Provence appellation. Finally, Château Romassan, created in 1956, produces rosé and red wines under the Bandol appellation. The BY OTT range of rosé, red and white wines is a perfect representation of Provence and Ott wine.

CLOS MIREILLE

In the 1930s, Marcel Ott fell in love with a property located in La Londe Les Maures, not far from the sea. This famous Clos Mireille has vines that are 15 years old on average, on schist terroirs. He replanted the vineyard near the original 18th-century building. The exceptional terroir of Clos Mireille has won over the whole world, as it produces high-end rosé and white wines.

CHÂTEAU DE SELLE

Chateau de Selle was the first of the Domaines Ott* to be purchased by Marcel Ott in 1912. Located in Taradeau, near Draguignan in the Haut Var region, its red clay, sandstone and gravel soil has produced some great wines. The terraced plots allow vines to be cultivated in this environment, which was previously only wild nature. The 140 hectares of vines are around twenty years old, with Grenache for depth, Cinsault for roundness, Syrah for colour and spice, and Cabernet Sauvignon for complexity and power.

CHÂTEAU ROMASSAN

Purchased in 1956 by the Ott family, Château Romassan is located in the Bandol appellation. The vineyard was completely replanted, the plots were reorganised, the terraces and terraced fields restored, as well as the 18th-century building that stood on the 75-hectare property. It took 30 years before it was possible to produce great terroir wines, representative of the appellation and the superb grape variety that reigns supreme there: Mourvèdre.
