Réserve Rosé by Chateau de Bregançon is a wine that's just as well-suited to aperitifs as it is to summer cuisine. It's just as suited to dishes from its native Provence as it is to spicy dishes. It also goes well with red fruit desserts. Serve chilled, between 10°C and 12°C

The domain

Château de Brégançon boasts 42 hectares of vineyards facing the islands of Porquerolles and Port-Cros. No fewer than 7 generations have run this historic estate, which has belonged to the Sabran family for 2 centuries. Today, Olivier Tézenas continues the story at Bregancon.

CHÂTEAU DE BRÉGANÇON, A LISTED SITE

The wine estate extends over an exceptional listed site between land and sea, facing the Iles d'Or. Château de Brégançon was built in the 18th century as the fief of a former Marquisate. Today, it is nothing less than a presidential residence. The story began in 1816, when Simon Sabran bought the estate. Part of the production was used to supply the Fort and soldiers during the war. It was sold several times, but eventually fell into the hands of Hermann Sabran (Simon's grandson). This lawyer from Lyon wanted to build a hospital in memory of his daughter Renée, who died at the age of 8 from a serious illness. The hospital was eventually built on the Giens peninsula. Bregancon continued to grow and gain renown under the impetus of Georges Tézenas, who was awarded the title of "Cru Classé des Côtes-de-Provence" in 1955: only the most renowned properties of the time were rewarded. Major renovations began in 2011 to bring the tasting cellar up to date and build a new wine cellar. In 2020, Chateau de Bregancon was certified organic, and Olivier Tézenas, 8th generation, combines passion, know-how and finesse to produce elegant, authentic cuvées every year.

REFINED CÔTES-DE-PROVENCE AT CHATEAU DE BREGANCON

Located in Bormes-les-Mimosas, Brégancon produces white, rosé and red wines in the Côtes-de-Provence appellation. The estate covers 450 hectares, 42 of which are planted with vines, and produces around 60% rosé, 30% red and 10% white wines. The vines take root on a clay-silica terroir, which benefits from maritime influences. Indeed, the almost immediate proximity of the sea gives Château de Brégançon wines a fresh, iodized character. This influence also reduces temperature variations, especially in summer and winter, as well as rainfall. As a result, the vineyard is well ventilated, providing ideal conditions for wine production. Initially certified to HVE3 (Haute Valeur Environnementale level 3), Domaine de Bregançon has been awarded the organic label for the 2020 vintage.

THE DIFFERENT RANGES AVAILABLE AT BREGANCON

There are several very different wine ranges at Château de Brégançon, first and foremost the Réserve range, which is gourmet, drinkable and fresh. Réserve Blanc is a fragrant, elegant blend of Rolle and Ugni-Blanc, while Réserve rosé offers intense, peachy aromas and lovely body. Finally, Réserve rouge promises a tasting moment of red fruit flavors while remaining fresh and gourmet. Next, the Cuvée Prestige is aged in Bordeaux barrels for 12 months, a complete change of register: once again, the fruit is there, but accompanied by woody, vanilla aromas for even greater complexity. Finally, Bregancon's top-of-the-range wines are the Louise, Isaure and Hermann Sabran cuvées. These cuvées are made from the wine estate's oldest plots, using bâtonnage and free-run juice according to color to bring structure, depth and a nice fatness to the wines.
