Collection Marguerites en Provence epitomizes the style, expertise and passion of Maison Sainte Marguerite. Available in limited editions, it is distinguished by its rare balance. Produced from the finest plots in the commune of La Londe-les-Maures, Saint Pons, La Jeannette and Mont Redon, this Provençal red wine is born on a unique terroir of schist, clay and flint chips, which give it its character and richness.
The sommelier info
Collection Marguerite Red reveals intense aromas of red and black fruits, such as raspberry, blackcurrant and ripe cherry, accompanied by a delicate, well-integrated touch of wood. On the palate, the red fruit flavors perceived on the nose are expressed with a lovely roundness, enveloping the palate. The tasting ends with a velvety texture and remarkable length on the palate.
Vinification and maceration are carried out under strict temperature control, followed by 24 months' ageing in new, extra-fine-grain French oak barrels from the prestigious Ermitage and Baron wineries. These barrels give the wine great complexity and an elegant finish. Before bottling, the wine is carefully fined and filtered to guarantee its purity.

The domain
Created in 1929 by André Chevillon, a concert pianist, Sainte Marguerite source, now known as Château Sainte-Marguerite, is located on land that has been cultivated for wine since ancient times. Château Sainte-Marguerite covers 168 hectares of land. Facing the sea, the estate has held the Grand Cru Classé de Provence title since 1955 and the Côtes de Provence appellation since 2008. It is located partly in the commune of La Londe Les Maures.
Having fallen in love with the château in 1977, Brigitte and Jean-Pierre Fayard, along with their children and stepchildren, continue this work of excellence by producing Provence wines that are known and recognised by all. Sainte Marguerite rosé accounted for 65% of production, with 20% red and 15% white, including the former Château and Symphonie cuvées in rosé, white and red, and the Fantastique cuvées in rosé, white and red. Sainte-Marguerite rosé has become a must-have among Provence rosés.
The adventure between the Ricard and Fayard families began in 2021. The shares held by the parents and one of the Fayard children were bought out by the Marseille-based giant, while the other three children retained theirs. Sainte Marguerite in Provence has not been abandoned, far from it. However, a few changes are necessary: the Château cuvée will no longer be distributed and the focus will be on the Symphonie rosé and Fantastique cuvées in three colours. Fantastique continues to be produced from the estate's own vineyards, while Symphonie is now part of the Provençale company's trade and is produced from a few vineyards neighbouring Château Sainte Marguerite.

In 2008, Château Sainte-Marguerite obtained the complementary geographical designation AOC Côtes de Provence la Londe, a village on the Var coast that has been producing wine since time immemorial. This DGC is a kind of ‘Super Appellation’ awarded to estates benefiting from a specific terroir, including Château Sainte-Marguerite. The Côtes de Provence la Londe appellation is awarded to terroirs where rock outcrops. Four types of soil, all marked by phyllites (schist hardened by metamorphism into slate-like layers), are eligible for this Terroir Designation, which explains the quality of Sainte Marguerite wine.
Château Sainte-Marguerite wine is produced using organic farming methods and has been Ecocert certified since 2003. Sainte-Marguerite has also been certified as a vegan wine since 2015, guaranteed free from animal-derived ingredients. Sainte Marguerite was one of the pioneers in the production of vegan wines.
